Please find below additional information about confidentiality, information sharing, qualifications, membership and competence:

Confidentiality:

Confidentiality of personal information is an important consideration.  Sessions are confidential between the child/young person and therapist and also between the parent and the therapist.  However, it is important to note that confidentiality can be broken if the therapist is concerned for the child/young person’s safety.  If safety is an issue, the therapist will (with your knowledge where possible) make contact with an appropriate person or organisation in order to protect a child/young person.

Sharing information:

Information will not be shared without first seeking your permission, except in cases of concern for safety and welfare (see above).  The only other exception is in the case of professional supervision (see below)

Professional qualifications

  • MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Children and Adolescents
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Work
  • Certificate in teaching Adult Learners
  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Education

Professional membership and regulation:

Sonya is an accredited member of the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) – In order to be accredited by the BACAP therapists will have submitted evidence of extended professional training and supervision in CBT.

An accreditation check can be performed by visiting CBT register UK  http://www.cbtregisteruk.com and entering “Godley” in the surname box or “Oxfordshire” in the Geographical search. 

Sonya is registered with Social Work England.  A registration check can be performed on the Social Work England website http://www.socialworkengland.org.uk   Enter Sonya Godley into the text box.

Sonya abides by the professional codes and ethics of these organisations in her clinical practice.

Sonya has an on-line Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Baring Service), formally known as a CRB check.

Sonya has professional liability insurance.

Professional competence:  Training and supervision

Sonya attends regular training in the field of CBT and other therapeutic models and attends regular supervision in order to maintain the quality of the therapy offered and so that she can keep up to date with current CBT theory and practice.

Sonya accesses regular supervision with a qualified practitioner.  This is recommended for most clinical professions  and for BABCP registration supervision is mandatory.
