My daughter formed a close relationship with Sonya and she found her caring and approachable. Sonya helped my child set out realistic goals and they discussed strategies of how she could reach her goals. Sonya also helped me because I now know different strategies, I can try to help my daughter. These were backed up with articles and literature which I could digest. My child’s anxiety has decreased ten-fold since we started seeing Sonya. She has stopped chewing her clothes, can stay in bed without calling out and can pass a dog without freaking out. I have been given the tools to cope with my child’s anxiety, without losing my temper at some of her behaviour. It also helped remind me of the ways I should deal with my own anxiety as it has been some years since I had CBT.

It was helpful to talk to someone, especially someone impartial to my life. I was helped to find solutions to problems, suggestions of how to feel better and I got to share deep things with my mum. I got to talk and receive help for mental health blocks etc. Just being able to babble really helps you and your mood – thank you.

It was helpful to have someone who listened and understood so well and being offered suggestions to help manage the worries. Sonya remembered everything discussed at all of the meetings, even about all members of the family. It was very reassuring and relaxed at each meeting. My child has learnt not to keep all of her worries and to move on from them much more quickly. Sonya has given me the knowledge to manage day to day worries and not to compound them or fuel them by giving them too much attention.
